According to Toms River police, a Manchester Township man acknowledged to using methamphetamine before his automobile smashed into a utility pole on Route 166 early Sunday morning.
According to Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department, Ron Carr, 33, was traveling north on Route 166 when he went off the road just north of Albert Avenue and hit the pole.
Carr was not hurt, but a passenger in his car was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Messina.
Carr told police he fell asleep and wandered off the road before the accident, and then acknowledged to consuming methamphetamine around 4 a.m. Sunday, according to Messina.
According to her, he was accused with CDS possession and issued traffic fines for negligent driving and driving without a license.
The crash remains under investigation by Toms River Police Officer Scott Fallano.
